| Favorable climate, soils and traditional
agricultural practices made growing of the three major
tobacco types Oriental, Virginia, and Burley successful
in Bulgaria for more than a century. During the last years
average annual production was 40-50 thousand tons of tobacco,
including 35 thousand tons Oriental tobaccos. |

The Bulgarian Oriental tobaccos are famous worldwide, the
largest orders being for the varieties Krumovgrad, Nevrokop,
East Balkan, Djebel, Melnik and others.

Bulgartabac is traditional exporter of aromatic manipulated
fermented Bulgarian Oriental tobaccos of top and middle quality.
They are traditionally used in the cigarette blends of the
leading cigarettes manufacturers in the U.S., EC, Middle East,
Far East, North Africa and the CIS. This section of the site
presents the production potential of Bulgartabac. The Areas
section includes maps of tobacco production areas in Bulgaria
and short presentation of each area. The Factories section
presents the tobacco processing factories of the company.

production technologies, preparation and control procedures.
